Ranger Talk: Trails, Trash, and Treasure – National Scenic Trails and Leave no Trace
HARPERS FERRY, IA — Join Ranger Kaitlin to learn more about National Scenic Trails and Leave no Trace principles. This talk will focus on Kaitlin’s journey packing out trash while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2016. When preparing to hike the Appalachian Trail, Kaitlin decided to pack out any trash found along the way. Easier said than done. 3 sleeping bags, 4 pillow, pots, pans, picture frames, and countless wrappers; these are just a few of the things packed off the trail. How many pairs of underwear do you think were removed by Ranger Kaitlin? Come to the talk to find out! This talk will be given September 2 at 7 pm and September 23 at 2 pm.
