Spring Equinox Sunset Hike – Yellow River State Forest Luster Heights Unit
Event Details
Celebrate spring with Assistant Naturalist Melissa on this scenic sunset hike! An equinox is a day in which the sun appears directly over the Earth’s equator, instead of to the north or south. This causes the northern and southern hemispheres to be equally illuminated by the sun, and the length of night and day to be nearly equal. There are two equinoxes each year, one in March and another in September.
The hike will start from the Luster Heights Unit and will be approximately 2 miles long and feature a scenic overlook. This event is open to all ages, but participants younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should meet at the Luster Heights Unit parking lot at 481 Luster Heights Road, Harpers Ferry.
