Commemorate the Anniversary of the end of World War II – Veterans Museum
The Veterans Museum will commemorate the Anniversary of the end of World War II culminating with VJ Day [Victory over Japan] on September 2, 1945 when the formal surrender of Japan took place on the Battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo harbor.
A documentary about the events leading up to the surrender including the atomic bombing of Japan will be shown at the Veterans Museum at 105 Allamakee Street in Waukon on Saturday, September 7, at 10:00 a.m.
Museum tours are available Fridays from Noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Prior programs will be repeated for visitors on request. The museum is also open by appointment for school, community groups, veterans organizations, and others not available during regular hours. There is no admission or membership charge. The facility is handicap accessible.
