The Lansing House is owned by Monte and Mollie Marti, both natives of Northeast Iowa. We initially bought the property to enjoy with our children and host family holidays. We are committed to steward this property while sharing it as a gathering space for those who will appreciate its unique history.
The home’s builder, Captain Jeremiah Turner, wrote a book, Memories of a Raft Pilot, about his life on the river from 1858-1903. He went on to establish the first button factory in Lansing, making buttons from Mississippi River clam shells. Visitors to the Lansing House will enjoy photos and writings about the Captain and his grand home.
