Harpers Ferry is a historic river valley community located on a sand plain. This plain was once the location of one of the largest concentrations of Indian mounds in the Upper Mississippi River Valley. This community offers complete commercial services, a private marina, and shoreline services. There has always been trapping, clamming and commercial fishing here. Today, Harpers Ferry business establishments that serve the permanent residents also accommodate the many summertime residents who own vacation cottages here. Each year an increasingly larger number of outdoor enthusiasts are attracted to this friendly community. The current population is approximately 330.
