 Allamakee County offers financial assistance to start-up and expanding businesses through the Revolving Loan Fund. Tax abatement is also available. Iowa law allows cities and counties to exempt local property tax for new businesses. The rates are as follows: Year 1 = 75%, Year 2 = 60%, Year 3 = 45%, Year 4 = 30%, Year 5 = 15%. Tax Increment Financing and Economic Development Grants are offered to industrial businesses relocating or expanding. These programs are based on the jobs created and the total cost of the project.
